If you’re looking to go rafting in Colorado this year, you won’t want to miss the state’s namesake river. Our outpost is located in remote and rustic Kremmling, Colorado, convenient to Summit County (Breckenridge/ Keystone), Vail/ Beaver Creek, Steamboat Springs, and Winter Park. Trips on the Colorado are available throughout the summer. Water levels on the Colorado are more consistent than on many of the other rivers in the state – this year, we anticipate running our scenic float trips through Labor Day. We have also found that there tend to be fewer people on the Upper Colorado than there are on other sections of the river or on other rivers, making the experience feel a little more remote. Our fun and experienced guides will help you experience everything the Colorado River has to offer, whether you are looking for a mellow float or advanced Class V rapids. Choose from half day and full day options.
The Upper Colorado Scenic Float offers gorgeous scenery and gently flowing water, providing the perfect escape to nature. Your boat will pass through a few small rapids as you wind through the mountain ranch land and below the jagged peaks of the Gore Range. The best part about the Colorado is that it’s appropriate for everyone! Families with younger children will love the smaller, more accessible rapids. Older children and adults will enjoy our side-adventures: leap from Jump Rock or Little Jump Rock to get your adrenaline going. Stop to see the historic mining cabins that dot the riverbanks. Keep an eye for the wildlife that abounds in the area – from deer and elk to various species of birds. You’ll find plenty of time to soak in the sun, go for swim, or just kick back. At the end of the trip, you’ll feel relaxed and refreshed.
As an alternative way to float the Colorado River, consider taking out our inflatable kayaks, or “duckies”, where you’ll have your own personal boat to navigate down the river. A guide will accompany you to answer any questions and provide tips on paddling, but you’ll be in charge of steering yourself down the river. Don’t worry about previous experience; once you have a chance to try it out, you’ll quickly master the basics and be ready to power through the small ripples and wave trains! Inflatable kayaks are a great way for the more adventurous members of the group to enjoy themselves while accompanying the scenic float trip.
Looking to go extreme? Gore Canyon runs for a limited time in late summer and offers the biggest, most advanced whitewater rafting in the state of Colorado. There’s no better trip for the veteran rafter seeking the ultimate whitewater experience. This year, our Gore Canyon trip will run from July 27th through mid-August on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays.
The Colorado River is the classic Rocky Mountain experience. No Colorado vacation is complete without a trip down this beautiful river.
