Mild To Wild White Water Rafting Trip Itinerary

One of our must exciting and all around fun trips we offer is the 3-Day Mild to Wild! This ultimate experience of camping and white water rafting truly demonstrates what summers in Colorado are all about. As the name suggests you will start off the trip “mildly”, hitting some thrilling class III rapids on our scenic Browns Canyon section of the river. From then on we get into some heart racing class IV and class V rapids in our Pine Creek and Numbers sections of the river. This would be enough for most people, but we go a step further and will allow guests to rock climb or try smaller white water crafts (duckies).

Day to Day schedule:

DAY 1:

Check in to our outpost 15 minutes before your scheduled trip at 7:45am. After talking to our friendly staff, we will introduce you to your guides and they will take any gear that you are bring on the trip and start putting them in dry bags. You will begin trying on wetsuits and other provided gear that you need on this trip. After a short bus ride and safety talk, we will begin our rafting journey on the Browns Canyon section of white water. After taking in some great scenery and rolling over thrilling class III rapids, your guides will pull over and prepare a lunch. After your food has settled, we jump back in our rafts and take in some sun while splashing through the canyon. The rafting comes to an end while guides will set up tents and get dinner started. You can enjoy a delicious meal while observing some of the best wilderness Colorado has to offer!

DAY 2:

Wake up to a beautiful sunrise and the smell of a delicious breakfast being cooked up by your guides. Then it’s back to the river for more wilderness rafting in Browns Canyon through rapids like Zoom Flume, the Seven Stairs and Seidel’s Suckhole. After a riverside lunch, you’ll jump into Inflatable Kayaks (“duckies”) and paddle them to the take out above the mountain town of Salida.  At the end of your second day on the river, we’ll pick you up and drive you upstream to your next riverside camp. The fun’s not over for the day! Spend the remainder of the afternoon rock climbing in the Granite Gorge. No experience necessary; we’ll teach you all you need to know! Do not worry if rock climbing is not your thing; you are more than welcome to hang out at the camp site and relax before dinner.

DAY 3:

On the third morning, after a hearty breakfast, prepare to run the most exhilarating whitewater on the Arkansas, Pine Creek and the Numbers. First you’ll rappel from your camp into Granite Gorge, where you’ll meet your rafts at the river for this incredible day of wild class IV and V rapids. You will end this trip with another mouth watering meal by the river before we say our goodbyes.
