Spring time is one of the best times of year in the high Rockies. The rising temperatures eliminating snow presents opportunities that were not available in the winter time. Starting in May, AVA Rafting & Zipline will have rafting trips and zipline zipline tours up and running. Two of AVA’s outposts are currently open and  ready to go, one being in Granite, on the Arkansas River, and the other in Idaho Springs on Clear Creek.

Spring In The Mountains

If you are staying in Denver or the Denver metro area and don’t want to make too long of a drive, come out to Idaho Springs, located less than 40 minutes from Denver. Here you have options to raft anywhere from one third of a day to a full day. Other options include the Cliffside Zipline and Aerial Course. You’ll get to take a cruise on the company zip truck through the historic mining town ending up at the mountainside trail. From there you’ll take a 5 minute nature walk to the course where you can take 6 different zips down the side of the mountain, ending with a zip over Chicago Creek that puts you right back at the outpost where you checked in.

Located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, just north of Buena Vista is the AVA Granite outpost. Here we offer even more adventure options! You’ll have the opportunity to choose from half-day trips up to overnight trips lasting 3 days. Adventure recreation is abundant at this outpost with opportunities to rock climb and rappel, as well as the Mountaintop Zipline Course featuring 7 different zips.

There are many more spring activities besides rafting and zip lining as well. Horseback riding with Mt. Princeton stables around Buena Vista is always a scenic, relaxed experience. Horseback riding trips with Breckenridge Stables are another unique experience where you’ll ride through the snow-capped ski-resort mountains in Breckenridge. If you are interested in other options in the high country you can even find hot air balloon tours out of Fairplay and Winter Park. Don’t forget about spring skiing at Arapahoe Basin as well! The resort stays open longer than any resort in Colorado and offers the best expert terrain in the mountains.

As you can see, there are a plethora of opportunities for spending spring time in the Rocky Mountains! Whether you raft, hike or even ski, we hope you call AVA to be your Colorado guide!
